The mission of the Office of Orientation Services is to support the transition process for new students, as well as their family members. We believe that orientation programs are the beginning of an ongoing process of creating active Titan community members. We recognize that our community is comprised of many unique populations, whom are supported by specific orientation services. We accomplish this mission through coordinating several signature programs for first year and transfer students and their families. Below is a description of the three primary programs we offer at this time.
Transfer Student Orientation is a day long orientation specifically designed for transfer students. This program takes place a few times throughout the year in April and August for fall semester, and in early January for the spring semester. At this orientation, students have a chance to meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, obtain their student ID card, and receive valuable information and resources about their new university.
Experience IWU: Family Orientation is a one-day program held several times throughout the spring for the guardians/central support persons in the lives of our entering students. Attendees have the opportunity to learn about how to support their student's upcoming transition to college, various departments on campus, and have a chance to meet other families of new students.
Our primary program is Turning Titan: New Student Orientation which is an exciting five day program where new IWU students get a chance to begin to build their community on campus, meet with their First Year Advisor, become acquainted with campus, meet their Titan Orientation Leaders and much more!
